Calla Lily Quilt Shop and Gifts, Inc. opened for business on November 2, 2004 in the Roseland Shopping Center located on the northeast corner of Hwy. 65 and 109th Ave.NE in beautiful Blaine, Minnesota. We carry only the finest 100% cotton fabrics for quilting by manufacturers including: Benartex, Robert Kaufman, moda, P&B Textiles, Andover, Timeless Treasures, and many others. We also have the latest in books, patterns, and notions. We are especially proud of our many Minnesota designers and happily promote them. Calla Lilys offers classes, clubs and events which are constantly evolving. Our friendly staff looks forward to serving you, our valued customer.
Note from the Owner
One of the first things to be considered when starting a business is, "What will I call it?" My family offered Kathys' Quilts or Kathys' Cozy Quilt Shop. I wanted to go with" It's my PASSION Quilt Shop" but my husband didn't care for that one and we settled on Calla Lilys, my favorite flower.
But isn't that why we make quilts, because it is a passion of ours? When I am sewing I am not thinking about work, worries or schedules. I've read that in California people say," get rid of your therapist, take up quilting." I have seen firsthand the benefits felt by new quilters who have family serving in the military, newly widowed women, and new retirees with time on their hands and new friends to meet. Yes, quilting can be very sociable too, from joining a club, taking a class, all the way to taking a quilt cruise with nationally known teachers.
